A Weekend in Palm Springs, CA

Every once in a while we both prefer to have a chill vacation, a vacation where all we want to do is lazy around. If you are vibing to this idea, we have a proposal: Palm Spring, CA. From our research about this city it mostly seemed like a city of golf courses with not a lot of the usual touristy things, and this got us really excited and worried. While we did want to have a relaxed “adventure” we also prefer to visit places that have interesting stories to tell. Palm Springs is definitely this, and read along for how to spend 3 days relaxing, exploring the vibrant mountain city of Palm Springs.
While we did want to have a relaxed “adventure” we also prefer to visit places that have an interesting stories to tell.

Good food, unbeatable views of mountains, windmills and deserts, really chill homes with interesting colorful doors, and California weather. Thats one way to summarize Palm Springs, but there is more. Joshua Tree National park is just an hour and half away and this is a must do when you visit Palm Springs.
Where did we stay: We stayed at the Saguaro hotel in Palm Springs, As you all might know by now, I (Gurneha) I love colors and saguaro hatel was very colorful and a truly refreshing take on how even simplest of hotels can be made exciting. And the best part is this hotel has a swimming pool with a mountain backdrop, we loved spending our day early mornings & evenings by the pool swimming and chilling

What are somethings to do when you are here if you are feeling too relaxed:
- Go around the downtown Palm Springs area, walking is most preferable, as weather is good all around the year and there is so much potential for retail therapy for those interested.
- Eat your heart out, Palm Springs has a great assortment of American, Mexican and Thai restaurants, and you will not be disappointed. Restaurant Recommendations that we swear by, each one of these was amazing and a must try.
- Birba Pizza – Woodfired Pizzas made to perfection.
- Tac/Quila – Highly rated Mexican food.
- L’Atelier Cafe – French Bistro in Downtown area, their quiches are one of the best.
- Koffi – We were almost a regular here, probably one of the best cup of coffees you can get in Palm Springs.
- Chef Tanya’s Kitchen – Really good Vegan and healthy options.
- Native Foods – Vegan! This place was a great find for us in Palm Springs, We loved the
- El Jeffe at The Saguaro Hotel – Another Mexican jaunt we tried since this was in our hotel, Tacos were out of this world, they make their own Tortillas!
- IW Coffee and Chai Bar – Slightly disappointing for me personally as their drinks were a little too sweet for my taste, but do give them a try.
- Ristretto – Quaint Coffee shop near the downtown area, a lot of food options here.
- Thai Smile – Literally the last food we had in Palm Springs, and it was really memorable, very authentic taste.
- Around Palm Springs downtown, Specifically the Canyon country golf course area boasts of some of the most creative and colorful doors to their houses. This was something that immediately caught my eye during our drive around Palm Springs, so feel free to explore this area for some really instagrammable photos.
- Visit Joshua Tree National park, we will have a detailed blog about this magnificent park soon, but it is unlike any other national park we been to. Filled with Cacti of various kinds and a unique experience when you can see two deserts meet, this one Is unmissable.
- Windmills, we had never seen so many windmills, so we wanted to get some photos clicked close to them. There are guided tours that take you around the windmills, but we also have recommendations of locations where you can get some really decent photos.

- Also close to Joshua Tree National Park is the Old Western setting – Pioneer Town, definitely a unique experience, and the entrance is free. So you can spend an afternoon here eating, drinking and taking photos.

- Although we didn’t have the time to checkout these next few recommendations but do give them a try and tell me if we should go there the next time we are in Palm Springs, yea, we are definitely going back. Desert X is a contemporary art exhibition in the Coachella valley which sounds really interesting to me, Salvation mountain is the culmination of one man’s effort to spread love across this world and manifests itself as an actual mountain of paint and cement, and the aerial tramway which offers you a rotating view of Chino Canyon below you!
